More Impact From We Care Dayton

Stories are many from students converging on the Dayton area to share Christ's love with the people there. Here are just a few of them.

Tari from Florida
I learned that hard work is good for you.

Amanda
Today we had the opportunity to walk to a lot of people and pray with them. We shared a lot of stories that made my heart cry out to them. Stories of testing positive, missing children, death and job loss. It was so amazing to see those people smile after we prayed for them and a lot said we really made their day and that they will never forget us and the generosity we showed.

Rebekah from Florida
It has helped me to get out and help the community. It felt good to do something for (the city of) Trotwood.

Jessica from Florida
It felt very good to help people with things they need and to see their smiles when we did.

Elaine
We sat and talked to her after dropping off groceries, and she was a complete dear. We listened, prayer with her, and she was moved to tears. I’m thankful the Lord arrange for me to come.

Ben from Pennsylvania
Today it was cool to see people become interested in Christ. Today gave me more ambition to do evangelism in my town.

Seth
Serving the members of Calvary Grace Brethren was a joy. It was a blessing to encourage them and to be encouraged.

Kaelyn
Levie was an incredible old blind man who was a Christian and his testimony really touched me.

Devin
This experience has impacted me in knowing what you see when you just go and do for others. By picking up for cleaning. It has made my heart even bigger for God.

Bridget from Ohio
Today I went with my youth group to Life Essentials where we were told about Jaret. We went to her house and repainted all of the wood on her house. She had had a really hard 6 years and it was really great to be able to help her.

Alex from Iowa
It was cool to see people’s hearts be filled with happiness as we talked with them and helped them with the simplest things.

Rebekah from Ohio
I saw God’s plan work! The owner and director of project were distant and suspicious; locking doors, not talking much, and defensive. But when we worked hard fixing house they became open and friendly! They were extremely thankful. Through mercy we could show God’s love.

Mary from Ohio
We went and painted in Dayton and during my lunch break I talked to 3 boys and led 2 of them to Christ. I got one of their addresses and I promised to send him a Bible.

Paul from Ohio
The house was a wreck when we came in and when we left, the house looked great! The people were very appreciative.

Kristi from Ohio
Today was an awesome experience. It felt great helping people in need. I intend to continue to help people and witness to the lost.

Valley Grace Hagerstown, MD
Today we went to help serve the Cornerstone Church in Southern Ohio. Our opportunities for the day were to g to local businesses and see if we were able to help out in any way. As we went to different businesses we received the same answer, “We just don’t need any help. “

One of the last stores we entered was a paint store. There we said we were from a Christian conference called Momentum. We explained that we were out trying to show the love of God by serving others. At first the manager of the store looked at us with confusion and amazement as her eyes started to tear up. She told us that last night her daughter tried to commit suicide for a second time in 3 days.

She went on to explain that she had been up all night with her daughter in the hospital. When it came time to leave the hospital to go to work she realized she was running way behind which in turn would keep all of the contractors waiting for their paint that was due in the morning.

When we arrived there was a contractor waiting. She had known this contractor because he had been in the store many times. She apologized for being late and explained to him what had occurred the night before.

The contractor looked at her with deep compassion and asked her to pray with him. The contractor was a believer! So he prayed with the young lady and left for his day. She had known him many times, but never knew he believed in Jesus. She then went on to explain to us that her district managers were doing a surprise inspection later on that day. She said she knew there was no way she could be ready. She said that this inspection was for her promotion she had been praying for. Then she opened up to us to tell us that she was now a single mother trying to support her two daughters by herself. She said she believed in Jesus, but had not been in church for 8 years. She often wondered where God was in her life right now.

As we straightened up the store we waited for a chance to pray for her when there were no customers in the store. For a good 4 minutes not one person entered the store. So we gathered around her and lifted her and her daughter in prayer. By the time we were finished, the store was stocked, swept, cleaned and ready for the inspection.

As we started to leave she insisted on knowing why we would do this and why we wouldn’t ask for anything in return. We told her proudly that we were here because of Jesus and that we cared. She then insisted on knowing the church so that she might get back to her focus on Christ and bringing her daughters and herself back to the relationship she had before.

She was definitely a life that was touched by God’s mercy and love.
