Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
What is it that God requires of HIs followers? And why is it so hard to do what He says sometimes? He has done so many good things for us like rescuing us from sin and death and redeeming us from hell. Not only does He NOT give us what we deserve, He gives us amazing things we don’t deserve. We can probably all count blessings in our lives and ways that God has provided for us.
So what is it He wants from us? Does He want huge offerings of money? Does He want us to be martyrs? Does He want us to take up huge food collections for the poor? Does He want us to try to be good enough?
What God wants from us isn’t some mysterious hard thing, like trying to repay Him for the pardon of our sins. What He wants us to do is simple: to be just, acting fairly toward others and treating them how we would want to be treated; to love to be merciful, like God has been merciful to us; to walk humbly with Him, remembering who He is and what He has done for us. What He requires isn’t difficult. He simply wants us to CARE about people like He does.
